Pont de la Farga Bella (Bridge of the Beautiful Fork) over the Llobregat River in Castellar n’Hug, Girona (Spain)

Hug de Mataplana, lord of Castellar, got married with a proud and arrrogant lady. Rumors spread that Mrs. Hug was a malignant witch. Under her influence, Mr. Hug soon got sick and died, not knowing the daughter his wife expected. Later, the baby was born, so ugly that it was scary to see. "My daughter must be the most beautiful of these lands" the lady thought.  Full of envy she made all the girls born disappear by throwing them into the bottom of a cave. The witch visited often the cave pleased and satisfied, but one day she slipped and ended up at the bottom of the cave. But, as if the depths of the earth did not want to keep so malignant lady, a river of water emerged from the cave, expelling the corpse of the witch. It is said that from this fact the Llobregat River was born, and its waters are the tears the poor babies.
