Wishing Bridge over the Loe River in the Gap of Dunloe, near Killarney (Ireland)

By Killarney's lakes and fells,
Em'rald isles and winding bays,
Mountain paths and woodland dells,
Mem'ry every fondly strays.
Bounteous nature loves all lands;
Beauty wanders ev'rywhere,
Footprints leaves on many strands,
But her home is surely there!
Angels fold their wings and rest,
In that Eden of the west,
Beauty's home, Killarney,
Ever fair Killarney!

Chapel Bridge over the river Reuss in Lucerne (Swtizerland)

14th century Swiss landmark is destroyed by fire. Fire on Wednesday almost totally demolished Lucerne's 14th century Kapellbrücke, the wooden covered bridge across the Reuss River in the city center. Offials said the fire claimed almost all the walls and roof and all but 30 of the more than 100 paintings that decored the bridge.

Kreisviadukt near Brusio, Graubunden (Switzerland)

The friendly cow all red and white,
I love with all my heart:
She gives me cream with all her might,
To eat with apple-tart.
She wanders lowing here and there,
        And yet she cannot stray,
All in the pleasant open air,
        The pleasant light of day;
And blown by all the winds that pass
And wet with all the showers,
She walks among the meadow grass
And eats the meadow flowers.

Pont Perriere over the Thiou river in Annecy, Haute-Savoie (France)

We fell in love tonight
And this is all we know
We turn off the lights
For a last touch and go
And we go back in time
We go back in time
On our way to Annecy
On our way to Annecy

Pont Perriere over the river Thiou in Annecy, Haute-Savoie (France)

Kalinov Bridge over the mythological Smorodina River painted by Nikolai Kochergin

Kalinov bridge connects two banks of the Smorodina River. Smorodina is a fiery, seething river, and Kalinov bridge is burning and red-hot. Feather light souls cross this bridge. And they can never go back. This place is guarded by the serpent called Zmei Gorynich. Later on Baba Yaga will live here in her chicken-legged hut. In prehistoric times this was the kingdom of Morena, Morena made sure that events were taking the right course, she kept peace between the worlds.

Bridge depicted in an Easter card

Did you ever see a rabbit, a rabbit, a rabbit?
Did you ever see a rabbit, a rabbit on Easter morn?
He hops around so quietly
And hides all the eggs.
Did you ever see a rabbit, on Easter morn?

Ann W. Richards Congress Avenue Bridge over the Lady Bird Lake in Austin, Texas (United States)

...Say good bye with dance parties and say good bye with shows
'Cause that somber-ass shit's not the way I wanna go
Put your hands in the air
Feel your dead friend's presence
Wrap and unwrap pack no resentments
With our hoods on our heads we are up on the bridge
And we're summoning the bats so we can live
With our hoods on our heads we are up on the bridge
And we're summoning the bats so we can live

Ending of the song Bats by The Uncluded,
inspired in this bridge bats colony

Fehmarnsundbrücke over the Baltic Sea waters toward the Fehmarn Island, Schleswig - Holstein (Germany)

Long ago, the Baltic Sea was ruled by Jurata, a beautiful queen. Her loveliness caused Perkun, the fierce God of thunder, to fall in love with her. so he would not let his storms disturb the waters of her kingdom. Jurata was a kind queen. She established laws to protect her sea creatures. One law did not allow anyone to set traps that caught too many fish at one time. In the Baltic coast lived a young fisherman who disobeyed Queen Jurata’s law. He set many traps and caught many fish which he sold to earn money to buy fine clothes. The Queen and was very angry with him. She wanted to drown him. But instead, she fell in love with him. Perkun got very very mad about this. He went into a rage and destroyed the amber colored palace while the Queen was inside and chained the young fisherman to the bottom of the sea for ever.

Drawing of the Transporter Bridge over the Old Port of Marseille (France)

The Cat Sìth is said to resemble a large black cat t (around the size of a dog) with a white spot on its breast that haunts the Scottish Highlands. It is said the Sith is a witch witch who has the ability to transform into the animal nine times. The people of the Scottish Highlands believed that it could steal a person's soul before it was claimed by the Gods by passing over a corpse before burial

Painting with the Pont du Carrousel spanning the river Seine in Paris (France)

Upon the bridge the blind man stands alone,
Gray like a mist veiled monument he towers
As though of nameless realms the boundary stone
About which circle distant starry hours.

He seems the center around which stars glow
While all earth's ostentations surge below.

Immovably and silently he stands
Placed where the confused current ebbs and flows;
Past fathomless dark depths that he commands
A shallow generation drifting goes . .

Brooklyn Bridge between Manhattan and Brooklyn in New York (United States)

“New York is an ugly city, a dirty city. Its climate is a scandal, its politics are used to frighten children, its traffic is madness, its competition is murderous.
But there is one thing about it - once you have lived in New York and it has become your home, no place else is good enough.”

John Steinbeck

Charles Bridge over the Vltava River in Prague (Czech Republic)

This laboring of ours with all that remains undone,
as if still bound to it,
is like the lumbering gait of the swan.

And then our dying—releasing ourselves
from the very ground on which we stood—
is like the way he hesitantly lowers himself

into the water. It gently receives him,
and, gladly yielding, flows back beneath him,
as wave follows wave,
while he, now wholly serene and sure,
with regal composure,
allows himself to glide.

Pontcysyllte Aqueduct over the Dee River between Trevor and Pontcysyllte, Wales (United Kingdom) painted by Alan Firth

Situated in north-eastern Wales, the 18 kilometre long Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and Canal is a feat of civil engineering of the Industrial Revolution, completed in the early years of the 19th century. Covering a difficult geographical setting, the building of the canal required substantial, bold civil engineering solutions, especially as it was built without using locks. The aqueduct is a pioneering masterpiece of engineering and monumental metal architecture, conceived by the celebrated civil engineer Thomas Telford. The use of both cast and wrought iron in the aqueduct enabled the construction of arches that were light and d strong, producing an overall effect that is both monumental and elegant.
