Puente del Perdón (Forgiveness Bridge) over the Lozoya River in Rascafría, Madrid (Spain)

Lozoya Valley served as a refuge for many criminals, who took advantage of the forest to hide and have a furtive life. It was so difficult to exercise government in these lands that the kings resorted to the crew of the Knights of the Quiñones to place order. When the Knights preyed on some criminal, led him to the Gallows House, located about five kilometers away from this bridge. If the prisoner was pardoned, it was customary to communicate the news of his release just on the bridge, the only way to the Gallows, which, for this reason, ended up being known as the Forgiveness Bridge.
