Bridge in a Christmas greeting card

O Christmas Tree, O Christmas tree,
How lovely are your branches!
O Christmas Tree, O Christmas tree,
How lovely are your branches!
Not only green in summer’s heat,
But also winter’s snow and sleet.
O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree,
How lovely are your branches!

Chistmas song.

Stone bridge in a Christmas card painted by Pavel Pecina

We three kings of Orient are;
Bearing gifts we traverse afar,
Field and fountain, moor and mountain,
Following yonder star.

O star of wonder, star of night
Star with royal beauty bright,
Westward leading, still proceeding,
Guide us to thy perfect light.

We three kings,

Kalinov Bridge over the mythological Smorodina River painted by Nikolai Kochergin

Kalinov bridge connects two banks of the Smorodina River. Smorodina is a fiery, seething river, and Kalinov bridge is burning and red-hot. Feather light souls cross this bridge. And they can never go back. This place is guarded by the serpent called Zmei Gorynich. Later on Baba Yaga will live here in her chicken-legged hut. In prehistoric times this was the kingdom of Morena, Morena made sure that events were taking the right course, she kept peace between the worlds.

Bridge depicted in an Easter card

Did you ever see a rabbit, a rabbit, a rabbit?
Did you ever see a rabbit, a rabbit on Easter morn?
He hops around so quietly
And hides all the eggs.
Did you ever see a rabbit, on Easter morn?

Bridge in a painting by Jeff Rowland

“I’m never happier than when I’ve got a paintbrush in my hand. Over the years, I have started to choose more intense colours to create a focal point – a refuge if you will – from the rain.”

Stone Bridge in a painting by Annick Terra Vecchia

– Hé ! bonjour monsieur l’Hiver !
Ça faisait longtemps…
Bienvenue sur notre terre,
Magicien tout blanc.
– Les montagnes t’espéraient ;
Les sapins pleuraient ;
Les marmottes s’indignaient ;
Reviendra-t-il jamais ?

Christmas card showing an Imaginary bridge

Thumb in the thumb place,
Fingers all together.
This is the song we sing
In mitten weather.

When it is cold
It doesn’t matter whether
Mittens are wool or
Made of finest leather.

Thumb in the thumb place,
Fingers all together.
This is the song we sing
In mitten weather.

Bridge depicted in the children book The Little Troll, by Tor Age Bringsvaerd

I'am a very sleepy monster
and I want to go to bed
but I'm scare of having nightmares
running round inside my brain
of spooky human children
with piggy little eyes
who eat disgusting foodstuffs
like jelly and fruit pies.

Steampunk Art Bridge painted by Vadim Voitekhovich

 “Steampunk is...a joyous fantasy of the past, allowing us to revel in a nostalgia for what never was. It is a literary playground for adventure, spectacle, drama, escapism and exploration. But most of all it is fun!”

George Mann

Bridge depicted in the book Trollvinter, by Tove Jansson

"Lie on the bridge and watch the water flowing past. Or run, or wade through the swamp in your red boots. Or roll yourself up and listen to the rain falling on the roof. It's very easy to enjoy yourself.”

In the book Moominvalley in November

Drawing with bridge

Boats sail on the rivers,
And ships sail on the seas;
But clouds that sail across the sky
Are prettier far than these.
There are bridges on the rivers,
As pretty as you please;
But the bow that bridges heaven,
And overtops the trees,
And builds a road from earth to sky,
Is prettier far than these.

Boats Sail On The Rivers

Imaginary bridge painted by Francisco Retamero

The light by the barn that shines all night
pales at dawn when a little breeze comes.
  A little breeze comes breathing the fields
  from their sleep and waking the slow windmill.
The slow windmill sings the long day
about anguish and loss to the chickens at work.
  The little breeze follows the slow windmill
  and the chickens at work till the sun goes down
Then the light by the barn again.

Poem by William Stafford
