Slasko Dabrowski Bridge spanning the Vistula River in Warsaw (Poland)

... Some day, I will stop time.
Spread my wings like a bird.
I will fly like the wind
down to where my dreams
come true in Warsaw's multicolour streets

If you wish to see a Vistula dawn,
then come and ride along with us.
You will find out the glory that can be
a Warsaw day.

In the song A Dream of Warsaw

John III Sobieski Bridge in the Lazienki Park of Warsaw (Poland)

Oh, for a kindling touch from that pure flame
Which ministered, erewhile, to a sacrifice
Of gratitude, beneath Italian skies,
In words like these: 'Up, Voice of song! proclaim
'Thy saintly rapture with celestial aim:
'For lo! the Imperial City stands released
'From bondage threatened by the embattled East,
'And Christendom respires; from guilt and shame
'Redeemed, from miserable fear set free
'By one day's feat, one mighty victory.

Old Pancer Viaduct in Warsaw (Poland)

What are you doing here, poet, on the ruins
Of St. John's Cathedral this sunny
Day in spring?
What are you thinking here, where the wind
Blowing from the Vistula scatters
The red dust of the rubble?
...

Swietokrzyski Bridge over the Vistula River in Warsaw (Poland)

On day the Mazovian prince lost his golden arrow with which he was hunting. Searching for it he came to the banks of the Vistula River. There, he saw a white arm extending from the water holding his arrow. It was a mermaid. He became enchanted with the beautiful half fish, half woman creature. She smiled and, handing him the arrow, pointed in the direction he was to take. He soon came to a clearing in the forest where stood a small cottage, the home of the fisherman Warsz. Mrs. Warszawa gave him a good supper and asked him to stay overnight as a guest. Moved by their hospitality he returned with his people and together they cleared more land and built a small settlement, called “Warszawa”.

Srednicowy Bridge and Swietokrzyski Bridge over the Vistula River in Warsaw (Poland)

Vístula, que al Danubio en lo profundo
aunque siendo menor, igual parece,
mostrando, que regar pudiera el mundo,
en el Báltico mar se desvanece.
