Somesville Footbridge over the Somes Creek in Acadia National Park, Maine (United States)

To say that Acadia National Park is a beautiful place is kind of a misnomer. The park is actually a series of beautiful places, all housed on different parts of Mount Desert Island, the Schoodic Peninsula and other islands along the coast of Maine.

Park footbridge in Bad Mergentheim, Baden-Wurttenberg (Germany)

Let, O world, O let me be!
Lure me not with what love giveth,
Make this heart of mine content with
Its own joy, its own grief!

What grieves me, I know it not,
It is some unheard-of thorn;
Yet through my tears I will see
The warming sunlight come the morn.

Poem by Eduard Moerike,
poet from Bad Mergentheim

Forestry Commision Bridge crossing the Affric Glen near Cannich, Scotland (United Kingdom)

He who first met the Highlands swelling blue
Will love each peak that shows a kindred hue,
Hail in each crag a friend's familiar face,
And clasp the mountain in his mind's embrace.
Long have I roamed through lands which are not mine.
Adored the Alp and loved the Apennine,
Revered Parnassus and beheld the steep
Jove's Ida and Olympus crown the deep.
But t'was not all long ages' lore, nor all
Their nature held me in their thrilling thrall;
The infant rapture still survived the boy,
And Loch-na-gar with Ida look'd o'er Troy.

Narrows Covered Bridge over the Sugar Creek in the Turkey Run State Park, Indiana (United States)

I came upon a covered bridge
Weather-beaten and old,
Where deep blue stream and wooded ridge
Were framed in twilight gold.

It was wonderful to see
A scene so old and quaint,
A rustic masterpiece
That only God could paint.

I stood by that old bridge,
And watched the stream flow by,
While gentle winds caressed the trees
That touched the Hoosier sky.

Pont d'Ispagnac over the Tarn River in Ispagnac, Lozère (France)

Un soleil de plomb s'est levé haut dans les cieux
Et poursuit sa course dans un élan glorieux
Sur la route des Cévenn's, je prends mes repères
Parmi les mille tourbières du Mont Lozère

From the song
Sur la route des Cévennes

Cupett Covered Bridge over the Dunnings Creek near New Paris, Pennsylvania (United States)

Bigfoot, also known as Sasquatch, is normally described as a large, hairy, bipedal humanoid that lives in remote, heavily forested areas throughout the world. An unusual, unidentifiable creature was captured on film from a game camera mounted in a tree by Rick Jacobs in 2006, within a remote area of the Allegheny National Forest.

Kinzua Bridge in the McKean County, Pennsylvania (United States)

Blustery thunderstorms sweeping across the state toppled a historic railroad bridge yesterday afternoon near the Allegheny National Forest in McKean County that was once the tallest and largest in the world, officials said.According to state park officials and crews at the site, storms packing winds up to 80 mph caused part of the Kinzua Viaduct to collapse, sending most of it crashing into the gorge below. The bridge was built in 1882 and reconstructed in 1900.

Bridge over a canal in the Bonsecours Basin Park, Montreal (Canada)

Je reviendrai à Montréal
Dans un grand Boeing blue de mer
J'ai besoin de revoir l'hiver
Et ses aurores boréales
J'ai besoin de cette lumière
Descendue droit du Labrador
Et qui fait neiger sur l'hiver
Des roses blues, des roses d'or
                                         Dans le silence de l'hiver
Je veux revoir ce lac étrange
Entre la cristal et le verre
Où viennent se poser des anges

Lyrics of Je reviandrai a Montreal
Robert Charlebois

A frog jumps in-

Washington Park Lake Bridge in Albany, New York (United States)

Now in the fading woods, the Autumn blast
Chants its old hymn--a melancholy sound!
And look! the yellow leaves are dropping fast,
And earth looks bleak and desolate around.

Carl Theodor Bridge (Old Bridge) over the Neckar River in Heidelberg (Germany)

Enterrar quiero mis cantos,
quiero enterrar mis quimeras;
féretro insondable quiero,
inmensa fosa necesito.
Ha de guardar muchas cosas,
el ataúd bajo tierra;
quiero que tenga más fondo
que el tonel de Heidelberg,
Buscadme féretro duro,
de planchas fuertes y espesas,
aun más largo que el gran puente
que hay sobre el Rhin en Magencia.
y buscad doce gigantes
de más vigor y más fuerza
que el enorme San Cristóbal
que hay de en la iglesia de Colonia.
Que lo arrojen al profundo
seno de la mar inmensa.

Heinrich Heine

Togetsu Bridge (Moon Crossing Bridge) over the Katsura River in Arashiyama, Kyoto (Japan)

The traveler,
Sleeves flapping in the wind
On an autumn night,
How lonely the bridge
Across the gorge.
