Painting with bridge over the Oja River in Santo Domingo de la Calzada, La Rioja (Spain)

...in the route to Santiago de Compostela the parents went to see their unfairly hanged son and, when they came to where he was, they heard the voice of the son telling them that Santo Domingo de la Calzada had preserved his life. They were immediately to see the magistrate of the town to tell him about the miracle .Unbeliever, the magistrate replied that his son was as alive as the rooster he was about to eat. In that moment the rooster jumped from the dish and started singing. There are some famous verses about it "Santo Domingo de la Calzada where she chicken sang after being roasted".

a la Extremadura,
ya se queda la sierra

Más de cuatro zagalas
quedan llorando
