Rande Bridge over the Vigo Estuary between Redondela and Moaña, Pontevedra (Spain)

In 1702, a battle took place in the heart of the Vigo estuary, which now houses the bridge of Rande, between Anglo-Dutch and Spanish-French coalitions. It is said that treasure loaded ships came from America bound for Seville, and, knowing that they would suffer an ambush, hid deep into the Vigo estuary. The English ships found them and after a bloody battle, the English won, plunging the entire Spanish fleet, and thus the treasure. Since then, and for two whole centuries, many expeditions, tried to recover the treasure, but without result. And a legend has been built around it,  passed from parent to child and from child to child, who's also seasoned with rumors of sightings of ghost ships, lights and a distant echo in the wind brought from old times.

Á ría de Vigo non
se pode entrar
con tanta lanchiña
que vai cara ó mar
que vai cara ó mar
entrar e saír
á ría de Vigo
non se pode ir

Ondas do mar de Vigo,
se vistes meu amigo?
E ay Deus, se verrá cedo!
Ondas do mar levado,
se vistes meu amado?
E ay Deus, se verrá cedo
Se vistes meu amigo,
o por que eu sospiro?
E ay Deus, se verrá cedo
Se vistes meu amado,
por que ey gran coydado?
E ay Deus, se verrá cedo!

"Well, M. Aronnax," replied Captain Nemo, "we are in that Vigo Bay; and it rests with yourself whether you will penetrate its mysteries."
