El Urumea es río que nace en las montañas de Navarra y entrando en Guipuzcoa es el río de las aguas más claras y cristalinas del mundo, que aun por eso le darían el nombre de Ur mea, agua delicada, delgada y sutil.

Concluyó de amanecer. A oriente, entre los desgarrones de las nubes, el sol, sin rayos, pintaba de naranja el cielo. La claridad invernal se difundía por la tierra encharcada y las aguas verdosas y amarillentas del Urumea. Las orillas no participaban de la tristeza del ambiente, hecha verdor mustia, de ramas sin hoja y verdor mortecino.
