Pont Vell (Old Bridge) over the Fluviá River in Besalu, Girona (Spain)

An autumn in Besalú a big storm was unleashed. It lasted days and nights . The immense flood cut down the village in two. Since then, the water always run down the valley. And with the flood also came a rather rare bird. Many families were separated by the new stream of water. Then, the people of the town decided to build a bridge. They chose a nearby quarry, but every time they wanted to start hitting the stone, the rare beast flew around their heads emitting a very unpleasant sound . They decided to hunt the bird with traps, but the beast was not easy to be captured. Until a young man realized that the bird was trying to guide them to the best stones. Guided by the bird, the bridge soon took shape and when the bridge was completed, the bird disappeared forever.
