Right under the third arcade of the Stone Bridge there is a deep well called the well of San Lazaro, which is said to be connected with the sea in Tortosa. It is an infinite abyss that swallows everything that falls into it. A hundred years ago a couple in love at the refusal of parents to marry, tied their necks together and rushed to the well of San Lazaro, never to be seen again. Their bodies were never recovered.
