One day the Weaver Princess met a modest shepherd named Niulang . Both fell in love passionately. This reached a point where the two lovers began to neglect their duties to be together, which made the Jade Emperor enraged, prohibiting them see each other and placed them each in a different river shore of the Milky Way . The princess , very sad , prayed and insisted his father. Finally this took pity and allowed them to meet again on a bridge over the river once a year: the seventh night of the seventh month.
